No Warranty

1. What happens if my tree is turning brown and I’ve watered like the instructions say?

There is no warranty expressed or implied after nursery stock has left Rangel's yard. However, you can send pictures to info@rangelsonsllc.com for a one-time free evaluation. If you wish to have one of our team members to inspect and evaluate your tree(s) onsite, there will be a $40 trip fee.

2. My tree is brown and it is dead. What can be done?

Unfortunately, if you do NOT purchase any warranty, we are not responsible for removing or replacing your dead tree. There will be fees if you wish to have our company do this.

3. I think my tree was installed incorrectly.

If you still think your tree was installed incorrectly, please let us know within 7 days of installation, so we can send a supervisor to inspect. Anything brought up to our attention after the 7 day period, we will not be responsible for the care of your tree. 

4. My tree is leaning. Can you straighten it?

If you are within the 14-day period after planting the tree, we will schedule an assessment for a supervisor to inspect. Anything after the 14-day period will require a minimum fee of $40.

We are not responsible for “Acts of Nature.”

5. My tree needs to be staked.

This is an additional fee apart from the tree and installation price given to you. Minimum fee is $45 Please inquire about this before purchasing your tree.

Limited Warranty

6. What does my warranty include?

Your 1 year warranty includes, removing 1 time the dead tree and replacing it with a new and same equal value tree.

7. What is not included in the warranty?

The warranty does not apply to damage to your trees from “Acts of Nature” such as floods, earthquakes, windstorms, etc. 90% of the problems we encounter after planting are related to the trees not being watered, and this warranty only applies if you have watered your trees in accordance with the instructions in our “Watering Guidelines.”

8.How can I obtain a warranty?

Call us at 317-219-7320 or email us for the price on this additional fee. THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR ANY OF OUR NURSERY STOCK IF WE DO NOT PERFORM THE INSTALLATION. If our company performs the planting and you are wanting to purchase warranty, the fee is 30% from tree cost and installation. Ex: Norway Spruce 8’ regular price is $300 with installation included. A one year warranty would cost: $90 ($300x .3). Prices are subject to change without notice, so please call to get informed. Warranty requires nutrient topsoil installation for an extra fee.

9. Can I purchase a warranty if Rangel Professional Landscaping does not perform services?

No. There is no optional warranty if we do not perform the services. All sales are final for contractors and DIY customers.

10. Is my warranty refundable if I do not use it?

No. Warranty is non-refundable.

11.How often should I water my tree?

Please follow the "Watering Guidelines" below. 

12. How do I know if I am overwatering my tree?

It is possible to overwater your trees. If the trees are overwatered they will turn yellow and die. You want to keep the soil “evenly moist and at a “cookie dough” consistency at 6"-8” down. If it’s raining steadily and hard for a few days in a row, you don’t need to water your trees, except for possibly thick, bushy trees that slough off the water like the Emerald Green Arborvitae.

13. "Limited Warranty on Trees/Plants Summary"

Your landscape is accompanied with a 1 yr limited warranty on the trees and shrubs installed by our Rangel Professional Landscaping, and a 1 year limited warranty on trees and shrubs purchased at Rangel Professional Landscaping if installed and maintained per the standards below.
Newly installed landscape plants will suffer transplant shock, particularly during the hot summer months. It is imperative that plants receive proper care, so as to minimize stress. Upon installation or purchase it is then the responsibility of the owner to supply the plant with sufficient water and fertilizer (as needed) during their growing season (May to October) to keep them healthy.  Trees and shrubs are warrantied for one year from date of installation or purchase, and will be replaced once within the warranty period, should they die.
Rangel Professional Landscaping will make warranty replacements during the optimum planting seasons: spring and fall.  Typically, replacements will take place between May 1st through June 30th and September 1st through November 15th.
Rangel Professional Landscaping assumes no liability for replacement of plants killed or damaged by pests, insect infestation, abnormal weather conditions, or other conditions beyond our control, nor will we replace plants experiencing “seasonal die-back”, when pruning and proper care will restore them to health.

Rangel Professional Landscaping cannot warranty against weed growth in mulch or topsoil beds, due to the germination of dormant seeds prevalent in the soil.
This warranty shall be void and will not apply to any plants which were originally installed by Rangel, then subsequently repaired, adjusted, moved or modified by an individual or entity other than Rangel Professional Landscaping LLC.
There is no warranty on wholesale priced plants nor plants sold on sale or at discounted rates.  In addition, annuals,  perennials, bulbs, ground covers, and transplanted plant material are NOT covered under this or any other Rangel Professional Landscaping Warranty.

Watering Guidelines

“Watering Guidelines”:

​Proper watering of your new trees is very important, particularly during the first year after they are planted. New trees have compact, burlapped root balls and until they have had time to put out roots, the only water your new trees can access is water put right on the root ball. If you pay attention to your trees and follow these directions, you should be fine.

1st Watering After Planting

If your new trees are planted November- March

Don’t worry about this; the trees are dormant and the rain will take care of this, plus watering throughout freezing weather can damage your tree.

 

If your new trees are planted April-October

It is a good idea to “water in” newly planted trees. This means to saturate the ground in order to fill in micro-air pockets in the soil. Water, Water, Water! Your new plantings will need an inch of water per week for the first year. IF YOU FAIL TO WATER YOUR PLANTS, THEY WILL DIE. A PLANT THAT HAS DIED DUE TO DROUGHT IS NOT COVERED UNDER OUR GUARANTEE. So for the first time you water the trees, leave the water on a good long time to accomplish this.
Soaker hoses and a timer system may be used to save time and money, however you must ensure that sufficient water penetrates the root ball of each plant.  Water should pool up at the base of the plant when the soil has been adequately saturated.  Water not only under the drip line of the plant, but also several feet out from this. Otherwise, dry soil will wick away moisture from roots.  If planting occurs in the Spring, water 3 times minimum per week, for the first 3 weeks, whether it rains or not, then after the first 3 weeks, water twice per week whether it rains or not. It is best to water early in the morning to prevent evaporation, or rot if watered too late in the day.

 

The basic GOAL of watering is to prevent the roots of your trees from drying out. If you wait for brown branches to appear, it may be too late. So stay on top of this, please.

 

How quickly roots can dry out depends on the characteristics of your soil, how much rain there has been recently, other vegetation in the area and what type of tree is involved. Note that some trees are so thick and bushy -such as Emerald Green Arborvitae-that even if it rains the tree may not get enough water o the root ball where the water is needed-as the tree establishes itself and pushes roots out beyond the “drip-line”, this becomes less of a concern.

 

When to start and stop watering during the year.

Trees don’t need to be watered when they are dormant- roughly November-March. Sometimes in March/April the soil will start to dry out from the warmer weather and that is when you should start your watering (we suggest you start checking in late March). Watering continues throughout the spring/summer/fall until late October when the leaves have fallen off the trees. You don’t necessarily need to water every day, but you do need to pay attention to the dryness of your soil- you don’t want the soil to totally dry out. These instructions will give you further information about when to water during this time.

Watering during the first spring/summer after planting is critical to your trees’ success- they will not survive if you don’t water them properly their first year. We recommend that you also water well the second year after planting, particularly during hot days or if we planted larger trees for you.

 

***If your trees are on a slope you should test the upper and lower to be sure the upper trees are getting enough and lower aren’t getting too much.
